The RUST-OLEUM 316835 is a two-component phenalkamine epoxy coating from the 9200 System line, formulated for demanding industrial and commercial surface protection. This 5-gallon unit covers large surfaces efficiently and delivers a high-gloss white finish with excellent corrosion resistance. The low-HAPS formula cures at low temperatures, making it suitable for cold-weather application without sacrificing adhesion or film integrity. It is a self-priming, direct-to-metal (DTM) high-build epoxy, meaning surface prep steps can be simplified compared to traditional primer-plus-topcoat systems. Applied by industrial coating contractors and maintenance crews, this product is designed for substrates where durability and chemical resistance are critical requirements.
The 316835 is suited for a wide range of applications including structural steel, concrete, secondary containment surfaces, and potable water storage tanks with a minimum capacity of 4,000 gallons. Its tolerance for damp surfaces and extended recoat window make it practical for field conditions where environmental control is limited. The coating is certified in accordance with NSF/ANSI/CAN 600 for use in potable water storage tanks, which makes it a compliant choice for water infrastructure projects in both municipal and commercial settings. It is compatible with a broad range of RUST-OLEUM topcoats for full system builds.
Compatible with many RUST-OLEUM topcoats and suitable for a variety of substrates including metal, concrete, and damp surfaces. Certified for potable water storage tanks in excess of 4,000-gallon capacity per NSF/ANSI/CAN 600. This is a two-component system — base color and activator must be ordered separately.
Application should be performed by qualified coating or industrial painting contractors familiar with two-component epoxy systems. Mix ratio and pot life must be observed strictly — do not apply after pot life has been exceeded. Surface preparation per SSPC standards is required prior to application for best adhesion and film performance. Follow all applicable safety guidelines for solvent-borne coatings, including adequate ventilation and appropriate PPE.
