The RUST-OLEUM 316533 is a 5-gallon pail of 3800 System DTM Acrylic Enamel, a water-based, direct-to-metal finish in Navy Gray gloss. It is formulated for indoor and outdoor applications where a fast-drying, corrosion-resistant topcoat is needed without a separate primer step. The coating achieves a dry time of approximately 15 minutes and delivers strong adhesion and one-coat coverage on bare metal and previously painted surfaces. It is suited for use in mild to moderate exposure environments and meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact, making it accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities.
This coating is used on structural steel, equipment, machinery, railings, and other metal surfaces in commercial, industrial, and institutional settings. It is appropriate for both interior and exterior applications where corrosion protection is required without the extended downtime of a multi-coat primer-and-topcoat system. The 5-gallon pail size is sized for larger production or maintenance jobs. Application conditions require ambient temperatures between 50 and 100 degrees F and relative humidity below 95 percent.
Designed as a direct-to-metal topcoat for bare or previously painted metal surfaces in mild to moderate indoor and outdoor exposure environments.
Application should be performed by qualified painting contractors or maintenance personnel familiar with industrial coatings. Clean and degrease all metal surfaces thoroughly before application — surface prep is critical to adhesion and corrosion resistance. The product can be applied by brush or roller; roller application produces a smooth, even lay-out. Do not apply when temperatures are outside the 50-100 degrees F range or when relative humidity exceeds 95 percent.
