The RUST-OLEUM 286512 is a high-performance, high-heat coating formulated for surfaces exposed to sustained temperatures up to 1200 degrees F (649 degrees C). It provides a gloss black finish and is VOC-compliant nationwide. This gallon-size coating is applied to metal surfaces in industrial, commercial, and residential settings where extreme heat exposure is a regular condition. HVAC technicians, pipefitters, and general contractors use this coating to protect and finish high-heat components. Two coats are recommended for full protection and optimal gloss appearance.
This coating is suited for surfaces that reach extreme operating temperatures, such as exhaust systems, boiler components, heat exchangers, stacks, and other high-temperature metal assemblies. It is available in both aluminum and black finishes at three performance tiers. The 286512 is the black gloss version in the High Performance tier, rated for the highest heat exposure in the RUST-OLEUM high-heat lineup. General contractors and trade professionals working on heat-intensive installations specify this product when surface temperatures regularly approach or exceed 800 degrees F.
Designed for metal surfaces regularly exposed to temperatures up to 1200 degrees F, including exhaust components, boiler housings, stacks, heat exchangers, and similar high-heat assemblies. Part of the RUST-OLEUM High Heat Coating family alongside 286510 (Aluminum), 286509 (Black, Heavy Duty), 286507 (Aluminum, Heavy Duty), 286503 (Black, General Purpose), and 286501 (Aluminum, General Purpose).
Surface preparation is critical before applying any high-heat coating — remove all rust, grease, and loose scale from the metal substrate before coating. Power down and allow the surface to cool completely before application. Follow applicable safety codes and local VOC regulations during application in enclosed or semi-enclosed spaces. Allow full cure time before exposing the coated surface to heat.
