The RUST-OLEUM 278268 is Part B Hardener for the Water-Based Topside Vapor Barrier system, a two-component floor primer and moisture-control coating designed for concrete substrates. This hardener activates the Part A Resin component to form a tenacious film that resists moisture vapor transmission up to 12 pounds per 1,000 square feet per 24 hours. The combined system tolerates pH levels up to 14 and can bond to damp or green concrete as early as 48 hours after placement. Flooring installers and concrete coating contractors apply this product as a foundational layer before applying finish coatings or installing floor coverings.
This product is used in residential and commercial flooring projects where moisture vapor emission from concrete slabs is a concern. It serves as a vapor barrier primer beneath acrylic, epoxy, and polyurethane floor coating systems, as well as under tile, carpet, and hardwood flooring installations. The 278268 Part B Hardener is sold separately from the 277494 Part A Resin. When combined with Part A and the required water, the two components yield approximately 1.5 gallons of mixed material ready for application.
Designed for use with RUST-OLEUM 277494 Part A Resin as part of the Water-Based Topside Vapor Barrier system. Compatible with most floor coating technologies including acrylic, epoxy, and polyurethane, as well as resinous flooring systems and installations of tile, carpet, or hardwood flooring over concrete.
Apply only when air, material, and floor temperatures are between 60 and 80 degrees F. Do not apply in direct sunlight or when ambient temperature is rising, as these conditions can affect cure and adhesion. Licensed flooring installers or concrete coating contractors should follow all local regulations and manufacturer mixing ratios when combining Part A and Part B components. Ensure proper ventilation during application and allow full cure before installing finish flooring or applying topcoats.
