The RUST-OLEUM 245533 is a 1-gallon, flat white, direct-to-metal (DTM) alkyd enamel designed for industrial and commercial metal protection. Part of the V7400 System 340 VOC formulation, it delivers corrosion-resistant coverage on bare metal surfaces without requiring a separate primer coat. Licensed coating applicators and industrial painters use this product in moderate to slightly severe industrial environments where rust prevention, chemical resistance, and long service life are required. The low-VOC formula meets regulatory thresholds at under 340 g/L, making it suitable for facilities with air-quality compliance requirements.
This coating is intended for direct application to ferrous and non-ferrous metal substrates in industrial settings including manufacturing facilities, food processing plants, and federally registered Canadian food facilities. It meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact, expanding its suitability to environments where hygiene and compliance standards apply. For maximum corrosion protection, the manufacturer recommends pairing this topcoat with a compatible V7400 System primer as a base coat. It is available in gallon and five-gallon containers to support both small repair work and large-scale projects.
Designed for use as part of the RUST-OLEUM V7400 System. Best performance is achieved when applied over a V7400 System primer on properly prepared metal surfaces.
Surface preparation is critical before application — remove loose rust, mill scale, grease, and contaminants per SSPC standards appropriate to the exposure environment. Apply in accordance with local VOC regulations and ensure adequate ventilation during application and curing. Industrial painters and coating applicators should review the manufacturer safety data sheet (SDS) before use. Do not apply to surfaces that will exceed the coating's rated temperature or chemical-exposure limits.
