The RUST-OLEUM 206194T is a water-based zinc cold galvanizing compound formulated to deliver corrosion protection on iron and steel surfaces without the need for hot-dip galvanizing equipment. Applied by brush, roller, or spray, it deposits a high-zinc film that acts as a sacrificial barrier against rust and oxidation. The compound is packaged in a 1-quart pail and covers 300 to 500 square feet per gallon depending on surface profile and application method. It reaches full dry in 2 hours and can be recoated after 24 hours. Licensed contractors, industrial maintenance painters, and facility maintenance crews use this product for touch-up, repair, and new-construction corrosion protection on structural steel, fabricated ironwork, and galvanized surfaces that have been damaged or welded.
This compound is suited for both shop and field application on iron and steel substrates in industrial, commercial, and infrastructure settings. Typical use cases include structural steel touch-up after welding or cutting, repair of damaged hot-dip galvanized coatings, and maintenance painting on exposed ferrous metal in corrosive environments. It is compliant with OSHA standards and meets a broad set of military and ASTM performance certifications. The 1-quart pail format is practical for spot repair and smaller maintenance jobs where a full gallon would be excessive.
Designed for application on iron and steel substrates, including structural steel, fabricated metal components, and areas where hot-dip galvanized coatings have been damaged by welding, cutting, or mechanical abrasion.
Application should be performed by qualified maintenance painters or coating contractors following surface preparation standards appropriate to the project spec. Clean the substrate of rust, mill scale, oil, and loose material before applying; surface preparation quality directly affects adhesion and service life. Observe applicable VOC regulations for the project location before use, as this product carries a VOC content of 420 g/L. Avoid application in temperatures or humidity conditions outside the product data sheet recommendations, and ensure adequate ventilation when working in enclosed spaces.
