The RUST-OLEUM 204006 is a high-performance, two-component direct-to-metal (DTM) epoxy mastic coating in Safety Red gloss finish, sold in a 1-gallon container. This coating is self-priming and bonds to a wide variety of substrates without a separate primer coat. It delivers superior long-term resistance to solvents, chemicals, abrasion, and impact, making it a reliable choice for industrial and commercial surface protection. Licensed contractors and maintenance professionals apply this product wherever metal or concrete surfaces require heavy-duty corrosion protection. The 1:1 mixing ratio eliminates the need for measuring equipment on the job.
This coating is suited for industrial facilities, commercial kitchens, food processing plants, and federally registered Canadian food facilities where incidental food contact compliance is required. It meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is formulated below 340 VOCs. Floor-coating applications are a common use case. The product is available with multiple activator options sold separately: Standard Activator for air and surface temps of 50 to 100 degrees F, Immersion Activator for fresh or salt water immersion of steel or concrete where water temps do not exceed 125 degrees F, Low-Temperature Activator for air and surface temps of 40 to 60 degrees F, and Fast-Cure Activator for recoat in 4 hours at 70 degrees F and 50 percent relative humidity.
Designed for direct application to metal and concrete substrates in industrial, commercial, and maintenance coating applications. Requires a compatible RUST-OLEUM 9100 System activator, sold separately. Not for use in potable water tanks.
This is a two-component system — order the base color and activator separately before beginning work. Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free of rust, grease, and loose material prior to application. Follow local VOC regulations and applicable facility safety codes when working in enclosed or food-adjacent spaces. Allow proper cure time before returning surfaces to service, and reference the activator-specific data sheet for temperature and humidity requirements.
