The RUST-OLEUM 204005 is a two-component, direct-to-metal (DTM) epoxy mastic coating formulated for high-performance corrosion protection on metal and concrete substrates. This 1-gallon unit ships as the base component in Safety Orange with a gloss finish. The 9100 System DTM Epoxy Mastic uses a 1:1 mixing ratio with a separately ordered activator, eliminating field measuring. A single coat delivers protection equivalent to multiple coats of standard competitive epoxies. The formula meets USDA requirements for incidental food contact and is accepted for use in federally registered Canadian food facilities. VOC content is under 340. Licensed coatings contractors and industrial painters are the typical applicators.
This coating is suited for industrial and commercial environments where long-term resistance to solvents, chemicals, abrasion, and impact is required. Floor-coating applications are a primary use case. Four activator options allow use across a range of temperature conditions and service environments, including fresh or salt water immersion of steel or concrete at water temperatures not exceeding 125 degrees F. The fast-cure activator option supports recoat in 4 hours at 70 degrees F and 50 percent relative humidity, reducing downtime on active job sites.
Designed for use with RUST-OLEUM 9100 System activators sold separately, including the Standard Activator (50 to 100 degrees F air and surface temps), Immersion Activator (fresh or salt water immersion, water temps not exceeding 125 degrees F), Low-Temperature Activator (40 to 60 degrees F), and Fast-Cure Activator (50 to 100 degrees F). Not for use in potable water tanks when paired with the Immersion Activator.
This is a two-component system — the base color and activator must be ordered separately and mixed at a 1:1 ratio before application. Ensure air and surface temperatures fall within the range specified for the selected activator before mixing and applying. Follow surface preparation requirements for DTM coatings, including cleaning and degreasing the substrate. Consult applicable local regulations and safety data sheets for ventilation requirements and PPE when working with epoxy coatings.
