The Trane A801X100CM5SD is a single-stage, non-condensing natural gas furnace rated at 100,000 BTU/h input capacity with 80% AFUE efficiency. Part of the RunTru by Trane RT Series, it uses a multi-speed blower motor and an integrated furnace control board with digital display, status diagnostics, and last-six-error memory. The cabinet is 21 inches wide and approximately 28 inches deep, built to accept industry-standard evaporator coils and accessories. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit in residential applications where a cost-effective, single-stage heating solution is required.
This furnace supports four installation orientations: upflow, downflow, horizontal right, and horizontal left, making it adaptable to a wide range of residential duct configurations. The 21-inch cabinet width aligns with industry-standard dimensions, simplifying coil and accessory integration. It is controlled at 24 volts and operates on a single-phase, 120-volt, 60 Hz power supply. The open vestibule design provides a full 34 inches of vertical clearance, easing access during installation and future service calls. It is suited for residential forced-air heating systems where duct layout or mechanical room space limits installation options.
The A801X100CM5SD uses a 21-inch-wide cabinet compatible with industry-standard evaporator coils and accessories. When paired with a compatible RunTru or Trane cooling system, it functions as part of a complete forced-air comfort system. A model variant with a T in the 12th digit of the model number designates compliance with California NOx emissions requirements of less than 40 ng/J.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician in accordance with local mechanical codes, the IFGC, and the manufacturer's published installation instructions. Shut off the gas supply and disconnect electrical power before servicing or connecting any components. Verify flue venting configuration and clearances comply with applicable codes for 80% AFUE non-condensing appliances using B-vent or equivalent approved vent materials. The 24-volt control circuit must be properly wired to a compatible thermostat before commissioning.
