The Trane A5PH3036A1000 is a single packaged electric heat pump unit rated at 3 tons (36,000 BTU/h cooling, 34,000 BTU/h heating at high temperature) with a 13.4 SEER2 efficiency rating. All heating and cooling components are contained in one cabinet, eliminating the need for a separate indoor air handler or furnace. The unit operates on R-454B refrigerant, an A2L low-GWP refrigerant that aligns with current EPA Section 608 and ARI standards. Rated at 208-230 volts, single-phase power, it draws approximately 26 amps at full load. Licensed HVAC technicians install and commission this equipment in both new construction and replacement applications.
This unit is designed for residential applications and is suited for structures in the 1,500 to 1,800 square foot range requiring a self-contained cooling and heating solution. It is part of the RunTru by Trane A5PH series of entry-level convertible packaged heat pumps, available in 2 to 5 ton configurations. The convertible design supports multiple installation orientations, making it appropriate for rooftop, slab, or curb-mounted configurations common in light commercial and residential settings. A fully modulating economizer accessory is available for field installation where ventilation requirements apply.
This unit is part of the Trane RunTru A5PH series and supersedes part numbers 11640952, 11640962, A5PH3036, RA5PH3036A1000A, and IA5PH3036A1000A. It is designed as a direct OEM-style replacement for residential and light commercial packaged heat pump applications where those part numbers were previously specified.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician holding an EPA 608 certification, as this unit contains R-454B refrigerant classified as an A2L flammable refrigerant requiring appropriate handling procedures and equipment. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power at the service panel before beginning any installation or service work. The unit must be set on a level pad, roof curb, or equipment platform per local mechanical code requirements, and all electrical connections must comply with the NEC and applicable local codes. Do not attempt to modify refrigerant circuit components or bypass safety controls.
