The ROTOR CLIP TX-18ST PA is an external self-locking retaining ring designed to secure components on shafts without requiring a groove. Made from SAE 1060-1090 steel with a phosphate finish, it seats directly on the shaft and uses six prongs to grip and hold position under load. The ring measures 0.444 inches free outside diameter and 0.010 inches in thickness, making it suited for compact assemblies where space is limited. Hardness is rated at 84-86 HR15N, giving the ring reliable resistance to deformation under thrust load. This part is installed by machinists, maintenance technicians, and assembly professionals across a wide range of mechanical and industrial applications.
This retaining ring is used in applications requiring a fastener that installs without a machined shaft groove. Typical use cases include small-diameter shaft assemblies in mechanical equipment, motors, pumps, and light industrial machinery. The 3/16 inch shaft diameter targets small-bore assemblies where traditional grooved rings are not practical. The phosphate finish provides a baseline level of corrosion resistance for general indoor and controlled-environment use. Conformance to SAE 1060-1090, UNS G10600-G10900, and ISO 13485:2015 standards makes this ring suitable for regulated manufacturing environments including medical device assembly.
Designed for use on shafts with a nominal diameter of 3/16 inch (0.1875 inches), with a functional fit range of 0.184 to 0.192 inches shaft diameter. Suitable for grooveless shaft retention in mechanical assemblies conforming to SAE and UNS inch-measurement standards.
Installation requires retaining ring pliers appropriate for external self-locking rings. Confirm shaft diameter falls within the 0.184 to 0.192 inch tolerance range before installation to ensure proper prong engagement. Power down or de-energize any equipment before servicing shaft assemblies. Do not reuse a ring that has been removed, as prong deformation may reduce holding force.
