Manufactured from SAE 1060-1090 spring steel with a phosphate finish, the ring delivers consistent spring force and corrosion resistance in demanding environments. Hardness is rated at 66-71 HRC. This external retaining ring is suited for industrial assemblies requiring reliable axial retention on 0.750 inch shafts. External snap rings of this type are installed and removed using external snap ring pliers; never pry or drive the ring with screwdrivers or chisels, as this can deform the ring or damage the groove. Ensure the shaft groove is clean and within tolerance before seating the ring. Depower any rotating equipment and follow applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures before servicing shaft components. Inspect the ring for deformation or cracking before reuse — do not reinstall a ring that has been over-expanded.
