The ROTOR CLIP SH-50ST MCD is an external retaining ring designed to secure components on a 1/2-inch shaft. Manufactured from SAE 1060-1090 spring steel with a cadmium finish, it seats into a 0.468-inch groove diameter and holds a ring thickness of 0.035 inches. The cadmium plating provides corrosion resistance in demanding service environments. Licensed trades and industrial maintenance technicians install this ring as a precision fastening element in rotating assemblies, drive shafts, and mechanical power-transmission systems. It meets military specification MS 16624-1050 and conforms to ISO 13485.2015 standards, making it suitable for applications with strict dimensional and materials traceability requirements.
This retaining ring fits 1/2-inch shafts in residential and commercial mechanical assemblies including HVAC blower motor shafts, pump assemblies, and general industrial drive components. It is sized for a 0.039-inch groove width and a 0.016-inch groove depth. Its free outside diameter of 0.77 inches and free diameter of 0.461 inches allow it to snap into properly machined grooves without secondary fasteners. Maintenance technicians and mechanical assemblers working on shaft-retained components select this ring when cadmium plating and military-spec compliance are required by the application or service specification.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or service part for external retaining ring applications on 1/2-inch shafts with a groove diameter of 0.468 inches, groove width of 0.039 inches, and groove depth of 0.016 inches per SAE 1060-1090 and MS 16624-1050 specifications.
External retaining rings require proper retaining ring pliers or snap-ring pliers sized for this ring diameter — do not use improvised tools that can distort the ring or damage the groove. De-energize and lock out all power to rotating equipment before removing or installing shaft retaining hardware per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Inspect the shaft groove for burrs, wear, or out-of-tolerance dimensions before installation, as an undersized or oversized groove will compromise retention force. Cadmium-plated parts should be handled with appropriate PPE per your facility safety program.
