The ROTOR CLIP SH-31SS B100 is an external retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove on a 5/16-inch shaft and axially retain components without the need for threading or welding. Manufactured from 15-7 grade 632 stainless steel to AMS-5529 and UNS S15700 standards, the ring delivers high hardness in the 69.5 to 73 HRC range and a zinc finish that adds surface protection in service environments. At 0.025 inches thick and 0.029 inches groove width, the ring is sized for tight-tolerance assemblies. Mechanical, maintenance, and industrial technicians install this type of fastener in rotating-shaft assemblies, actuators, and drive components across a wide range of trade and industrial applications.
This retaining ring fits a 0.290-inch groove diameter on a 5/16-inch shaft. It is suited for use in HVAC drive assemblies, pump shafts, motor shafts, and other rotating or reciprocating equipment where a positive axial stop is required without modifying the shaft. The 15-7 stainless steel construction makes it appropriate for environments where corrosion resistance or elevated-temperature service is a factor. ISO 13485:2015 standards compliance also makes it suitable for medical device and instrumentation assemblies where traceability and material certification matter.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 5/16-inch shafts with a 0.290-inch groove diameter, suitable for rotating shaft assemblies, drive components, and mechanical fastener applications requiring a zinc-finished stainless steel snap ring.
External retaining rings are installed and removed using external snap ring pliers sized to the ring tip holes. Always de-energize or lock out the equipment and relieve any shaft load before servicing. Verify groove diameter and groove width dimensions against the shaft before installation to confirm proper seating. Do not over-spread the ring during installation, as exceeding the elastic range can permanently deform the ring and compromise axial retention.
