The ROTOR CLIP SH-150ST ZD is an external retaining ring engineered for 1-1/2 inch diameter shafts. It seats in a machined external groove to lock components axially on a shaft without threaded fasteners or additional hardware. The ring is stamped from SAE 1060-1090 carbon steel and finished with a yellow zinc dichromate coating for corrosion resistance. At 0.050 inches thick with a hardness of 47-52 HRC, it delivers reliable retention force in rotating or sliding shaft assemblies. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers install this ring in industrial equipment, drives, pumps, and other power-transmission applications.
This ring fits shafts with a 1.500 inch nominal diameter and a groove diameter of 1.406 inches. The groove must be machined to a width of 0.056 inches and a depth of 0.047 inches to achieve proper ring seating. The free diameter of 1.387 inches and free outside diameter of 1.990 inches are reference dimensions used during installation planning. Typical applications include motor shafts, gearbox assemblies, pump impeller retention, and any shaft arrangement requiring positive external axial stop without welding or threading.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 1-1/2 inch diameter shafts requiring a groove width of 0.056 inches and a groove diameter of 1.406 inches; verify shaft and groove dimensions against the specifications below before installation.
External retaining rings require an external snap-ring pliers or ring-spreading tool sized for the ring outside diameter. Disengage all power and relieve any load on the shaft assembly before removing or installing the ring. Inspect the groove for burrs or damage that could prevent full ring seating. Never hammer or pry the ring into position, as deformation will reduce retention force and may cause the ring to fail in service.
