The ROTOR CLIP SH-125SS MPS is an external retaining ring designed to secure components on a 1-1/4 inch (31.75 mm) shaft by seating into a precision-machined external groove. Manufactured from 15-7 Grade 632 stainless steel to AMS-5529 and UNS S15700 standards, the ring delivers a Rockwell hardness of 47-52 HRC, making it suitable for high-stress and corrosion-sensitive environments. The passivated finish adds an additional layer of corrosion resistance. Licensed HVAC, pump, and rotating-equipment technicians install this type of fastener during shaft assembly or overhaul operations where axial retention of bearings, pulleys, or couplings is required.
This external retaining ring is used in residential and commercial mechanical assemblies involving 1-1/4 inch shafts, including pump shafts, fan-shaft assemblies, and other rotating drive components common in HVAC and fluid-handling equipment. The groove diameter of 1.176 inches and groove width of 0.056 inches govern fit — the mating shaft groove must be machined to those tolerances before installation. The ring conforms to Military Specification MS 16624-4125 and ISO 13485:2015, supporting use in both standard commercial and regulated applications.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 1-1/4 inch shafts with a groove diameter of 1.176 inches, conforming to MS 16624-4125 dimensional standards.
External retaining rings of this type are installed by mechanical technicians using snap-ring pliers sized for external rings — do not use internal-ring pliers or improvised tools, as improper installation can crack or over-stress the ring. De-energize and lock out all rotating equipment before beginning shaft work in accordance with applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Verify that the shaft groove dimensions match the ring specifications before installation; installing into an undersized or worn groove can cause ring ejection under load. Inspect the ring for deformation or nicks before seating.
