The ROTOR CLIP SE-118SS is an external E style retaining ring manufactured from 15-7 stainless steel (Grade 632) to AMS-5529 and UNS S15700 specifications. Designed to seat in a machined external groove on a shaft, this ring retains components axially without the need for threading or welding. It fits a 1-3/16 inch (1.1875 inch decimal) shaft diameter with a groove diameter of 1.079 inches and a ring thickness of 0.062 inches. The three-prong E style geometry allows installation with standard pliers or an E ring applicator tool. Its hardness range of 44 to 51 HRC makes it well suited for high-stress rotating or reciprocating assemblies in demanding service environments.
This retaining ring is used across industrial, mechanical, and precision equipment applications where corrosion resistance and high hardness are required simultaneously. Typical installations include pumps, motors, gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, and medical or food-processing machinery where stainless hardware is specified. The 15-7 stainless steel composition provides superior corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel rings, making it appropriate for wet, chemical, or sanitary environments. It is installed by maintenance technicians, mechanical assemblers, and industrial equipment technicians working on medium-to-large shaft assemblies.
Designed as an OEM-style external retaining ring for 1-3/16 inch shafts with a machined groove diameter of 1.079 inches. Confirm groove width and depth against equipment drawings before installation.
Installation and removal should be performed by a qualified mechanical technician using appropriate E ring pliers or an applicator tool sized for this ring. Always de-energize and lock out machinery before servicing any rotating shaft assembly. Do not over-deflect the ring prongs during installation, as this can induce permanent set and reduce retention force. Verify groove dimensions comply with the tolerances specified in this part's documentation before installing.
