The ROTOR CLIP KG-87ST OIL is a steel internal spiral retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove inside a bore and axially retain components without the need for external fasteners. With a 7/8-inch (0.875-inch) bore diameter and a ring thickness of 0.042 inches, this ring is engineered for precision fits in light- to medium-load assemblies. The oil finish provides baseline corrosion resistance during storage and handling. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers install this type of ring in production and repair settings where space constraints make standard snap rings impractical.
Internal spiral retaining rings like the KG-87ST OIL are commonly used in gearboxes, pump housings, motor end bells, hydraulic cylinders, and similar assemblies where a bore-retained ring is needed to secure shafts, bearings, pins, or other round components. The spiral design allows tool-free or single-tool installation by winding the ring into the groove, making it well suited for high-volume assembly lines as well as field repair work. This part is appropriate for both industrial and commercial mechanical applications.
Designed as an OEM-style internal spiral retaining ring for 7/8-inch bore applications requiring a groove width of 0.046 inches and a groove depth of 0.028 inches; verify bore and groove dimensions against your assembly drawings before installation.
Installation is performed by mechanical technicians or assemblers; ensure the bore groove is clean, free of burrs, and machined to the specified tolerances before seating the ring. Disengage all rotating or pressurized systems before removing or installing retaining rings. Wind the ring into the groove using the appropriate spiral ring installation tool to avoid deforming the ring or damaging the groove. Never reuse a retaining ring that has been over-expanded or shows signs of deformation.
