The ROTOR CLIP KG-150SJ is a stainless steel internal spiral retaining ring designed to seat in a machined housing groove and retain components along a bore axis. Manufactured from AISI 302 stainless steel per AMS-5866, this ring provides corrosion resistance suitable for demanding industrial and mechanical environments. It carries a thrust load capacity of 4,980 pounds at the groove safety factor and 9,900 pounds at the ring safety factor. The 1.5-inch bore diameter application, combined with a ring thickness of 0.050 inches and a free outer diameter of 1.605 inches, makes this a precise fit for standard spiral ring groove specifications. Machinists, maintenance mechanics, and assembly technicians are the typical installers.
This internal spiral retaining ring is used in bore diameters of 1.5 inches where a groove-retained fastening solution is required. Typical applications include gearboxes, pump housings, hydraulic cylinders, electric motor end-bells, and other assemblies where a stamped snap ring is not suitable and a spiral ring design is preferred for its multi-turn engagement and uniform load distribution. The ring is suited for both light industrial and precision mechanical assemblies requiring corrosion-resistant hardware.
Designed as a direct-fit internal spiral retaining ring for 1.5-inch bore housings machined to standard spiral ring groove specifications with a groove width of 0.056 inches and groove depth of 0.047 inches.
Installation is performed by maintenance mechanics or precision assembly technicians using spiral ring installation tools appropriate for the 1.5-inch bore size. Ensure the housing groove is free of burrs and debris before seating the ring. Verify groove dimensions match the specified width and depth tolerances before installation to avoid ring distortion or inadequate retention. Never reuse a retaining ring that has been removed, as the spiral may be deformed and retention capacity compromised.
