The ROTOR CLIP KG-106ST OIL is a steel internal spiral retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove inside a bored housing or bore assembly. It holds components axially in place without requiring secondary fasteners. Manufactured from 1060/1090 grade carbon steel with an oil finish, this ring provides corrosion inhibition during storage and handling. It carries a thrust load capacity of 2,550 pounds at the groove safety factor and 7,010 pounds at the ring safety factor, making it suitable for moderate-to-heavy duty retention applications. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and assembly professionals install this type of ring in production and field service environments.
This internal spiral retaining ring is used in bored housings where a standard snap ring or E-ring cannot be accessed from the side. Common applications include gearboxes, electric motor end bells, hydraulic cylinders, pump housings, and industrial machinery assemblies. The oil finish is appropriate for indoor mechanical assemblies where a light corrosion barrier is needed without added plating cost. The ring fits a 1-1/16 inch nominal bore diameter and is well suited to OEM production and MRO replacement work alike.
Designed for use in bored housings with a 1-1/16 inch nominal bore diameter requiring an internal spiral retaining ring groove machined to the manufacturer groove specification of 0.056 inch width and 0.034 inch depth.
Internal spiral retaining rings are typically installed by machinists or maintenance technicians using spiral ring installation tools or a roll-in tool appropriate for the bore diameter. Ensure the housing groove dimensions match the specified groove width and depth before installation, as undersized or oversized grooves will compromise load capacity. De-energize, depressurize, or disassemble the host assembly fully before ring installation or removal to prevent injury. Do not use pliers or improvised tools that could deform the ring cross-section.
