The ROTOR CLIP HO-31ST PA is an internal snap retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove inside a bore and retain shaft-mounted components axially. Made from 1060/1090 spring steel with a phosphate finish, this ring is engineered for reliable thrust load performance in precision assemblies. It fits a 5/16 inch bore diameter, with a free outer diameter of 0.346 inches and a ring thickness of 0.015 inches. Hardness is rated at Rockwell 15N 86-88. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and assembly professionals install these rings where a low-profile, internal retaining solution is required.
This ring is suited for light-duty to moderate-duty mechanical assemblies where axial retention of a component within a bored housing or cylindrical cavity is needed. Typical applications include gearboxes, actuators, pumps, and small motor housings in both industrial and commercial equipment. The phosphate finish provides a base level of corrosion resistance suitable for protected or lubricated environments. Groove dimensions must be machined to specification for proper seating and load transfer.
Designed as an OEM-style internal retaining ring for 5/16 inch bore applications requiring a groove width of 0.02 inches and a groove depth of 0.009 inches machined to tolerance.
Internal snap rings are installed and removed using snap ring pliers sized for internal rings. Verify groove dimensions and tolerances before installation, as an undersized or oversized groove will affect thrust load capacity and ring retention. Disengage all power and relieve any stored mechanical energy before servicing the assembly. Do not reuse a ring that has been over-expanded during removal.
