The ROTOR CLIP HO-187ST MCD is a heavy-duty internal snap retaining ring designed to secure components within a bored housing by seating in a precision-machined groove. Built from SAE 1060-1090 high-carbon steel with a cadmium finish, this ring delivers reliable corrosion resistance and high load-bearing capacity in demanding industrial and mechanical applications. At 1.875 inches bore diameter, it features a ring thickness of 1.57mm (0.062 inches) and a groove width of 1.73mm (0.068 inches). It meets multiple Military Specifications and is suited for installation by machinists, maintenance technicians, and mechanical assemblers working in OEM and MRO environments.
This internal retaining ring fits applications where a positive stop or retention device is required inside a bore. Typical uses include gearboxes, hydraulic cylinders, pump housings, electric motor shafts, and general industrial assemblies where axial retention is critical. The cadmium finish makes it appropriate for environments with moderate corrosion exposure. Internal snap rings require snap ring pliers with inward-closing tips sized for the bore diameter — do not substitute flat-nose pliers or improvised tools, as ring distortion will compromise retention force. Ensure the groove is clean, free of burrs, and machined to print before installation. Verify groove width and depth tolerances match the ring specifications before seating. Always relieve system pressure and de-energize any associated mechanical drive before servicing assemblies that contain retaining rings.
