The ROTOR CLIP CG-375SJ is an external spiral retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove on a 3-3/4 inch diameter shaft. The ring retains components axially without requiring a slotted shaft end, making it a space-efficient fastening solution in rotating assemblies, gearboxes, pumps, and similar mechanical equipment. Manufactured from AISI 302 stainless steel per AMS-5866, it resists corrosion in wet or mildly aggressive environments. Ring thickness measures 0.111 inches, groove width is 0.12 inches, and the free outside diameter is 4.067 inches. Installation and removal require no special housing bore access, which simplifies service on assembled shafts.
This ring is suited for industrial and commercial machinery applications where corrosion resistance and dimensional precision are required. Typical use cases include pump shafts, motor assemblies, conveyor components, and other rotating equipment requiring positive axial retention of bearings, gears, or collars on a 3-3/4 inch shaft. The spiral design allows single-turn installation without spread ears, which reduces stress concentration in the groove. Machinists, millwrights, and maintenance technicians are the primary installers of this type of fastener.
Designed for use on shafts with a 3-3/4 inch nominal diameter machined to a 3.552 inch groove diameter. Compatible groove width is 0.12 inches with a groove depth of 0.099 inches. Verify shaft and groove dimensions against ROTOR CLIP CG-series specifications before installation.
Installation is performed by a machinist or qualified maintenance technician using standard spiral ring installation tools. Confirm the shaft groove is machined to the specified diameter and width tolerances before seating the ring. Depressurize, de-energize, and lock out the equipment completely before working on any rotating shaft assembly. Do not reuse a ring that has been removed, as the spiral geometry can be permanently deformed during extraction.
