The ROTOR CLIP CG-325SJ is an external spiral retaining ring designed for use on 3-1/4 inch diameter shafts. It seats into a machined groove on the shaft exterior, creating a shoulder that retains bearings, gears, or other assembled components against axial movement. Manufactured from AISI 302 stainless steel with an oil finish coating, this ring offers good corrosion resistance for demanding mechanical environments. The ring measures 0.093 inches thick with a groove diameter of 3.076 inches and a free outside diameter of 3.504 inches. Mechanical assemblers, maintenance technicians, and industrial equipment professionals install this ring as part of shaft assemblies across a range of rotating equipment applications.
This retaining ring is suited for use in precision shaft assemblies where a low-profile, spirally wound ring is preferred over a stamped E-ring or traditional Circlip. Typical applications include gearboxes, pump shafts, conveyor rollers, and motor assemblies where the shaft diameter is 3-1/4 inches and the groove has been machined to the specified dimensions. It is manufactured to AISI 302, AMS-5866, and ISO 13485:2016 standards, making it appropriate for applications requiring documented material and dimensional traceability.
Designed for external installation on shafts with a nominal diameter of 3-1/4 inches (3.2500 inches decimal) and a groove machined to 3.076 inches diameter with a width of 0.103 inches and depth of 0.087 inches, within the specified tolerances.
Installation and removal of spiral retaining rings is typically performed by qualified mechanical assemblers or maintenance technicians using appropriate ring insertion tools. De-energize and lock out all equipment before accessing shaft assemblies. Verify that the shaft groove dimensions fall within the specified tolerance range before installation, as undersized or oversized grooves can result in ring failure under load. Do not reuse a retaining ring that has been removed from service, as the ring may be deformed and unable to provide reliable retention.
