The ROTOR CLIP CG-137ST OIL is an external spiral retaining ring designed to seat in a machined groove on the outside diameter of a shaft, providing a positive stop for assembled components without requiring threading, welding, or secondary fastening. Manufactured from SAE 1060-1090 steel (UNS G10600-G10900), the ring carries an oil finish that provides short-term corrosion protection during storage and handling. It fits a 1-3/8 inch shaft diameter with a groove diameter of 1.291 inches and a ring thickness of 0.05 inches. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and assemblers working with rotating shafts, gearboxes, pumps, and drive assemblies commonly use this ring type.
This external spiral retaining ring is suited for industrial and mechanical assembly applications where a shaft-mounted axial stop is required. Typical installations include motor shafts, pump housings, conveyor drive components, and general power-transmission assemblies. The spiral design allows the ring to be wound on and off the shaft groove without snap-ring pliers, making it practical in high-volume assembly environments or confined spaces where standard circlip tools are difficult to use.
Designed as an OEM-style external spiral retaining ring for shafts with a 1-3/8 inch nominal diameter and a groove machined to 1.291 inches diameter, 0.056 inches wide, and 0.042 inches deep per standard external spiral ring groove specifications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or mechanical assemblers. Ensure the shaft groove dimensions match the ring specifications before installation, and confirm the shaft and groove are clean and free of burrs that could deform the ring or prevent proper seating. Because this is a spiral-wound ring, it is wound into the groove by hand or with a winding tool rather than expanded with pliers. Do not modify the ring or groove dimensions to force fitment, as this compromises the axial retention load capacity.
