The ROTOR CLIP CG-112SJ is an external spiral retaining ring engineered for 1-1/8 inch diameter shafts. It seats into a machined groove with a 1.059 inch groove diameter and holds components axially without requiring a second groove or backing device. Ring thickness is 0.05 inches and groove width is 0.056 inches, making it suitable for compact shaft assemblies where space is limited. The ring is manufactured from AISI 302 stainless steel per AMS-5866 and meets ISO 13485:2016 quality management standards, which makes it appropriate for applications requiring documented material traceability. Machinists, maintenance technicians, and assemblers working on rotating or reciprocating shaft assemblies typically install this type of ring.
This retaining ring is used in light- to medium-duty shaft assemblies across industrial, mechanical, and equipment manufacturing applications. The external spiral design eliminates the need for installation tooling in many configurations, allowing the ring to be wound onto the shaft groove directly. It is well-suited for medical device assemblies, instrumentation, and other precision applications where ISO 13485:2016 material conformance is a requirement. The 302 stainless construction also provides corrosion resistance in mildly wet or chemically exposed environments.
Designed as an OEM-style external spiral retaining ring for 1-1/8 inch shafts with a machined groove diameter of 1.059 inches, groove width of 0.056 inches, and groove depth of 0.033 inches. Verify shaft and groove dimensions against the stated tolerances before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or mechanical assembler familiar with retaining ring specifications and shaft tolerance requirements. Verify that the shaft groove dimensions match the ring specifications before installation, and inspect the groove for burrs or damage that could affect seating. Spiral retaining rings are wound onto the shaft groove and should never be over-stressed or forced into an undersized groove. Remove the ring before disassembly of shaft components to avoid damage to the ring or groove.
