The ROMAC 286-111062 is a double strap IP saddle fitting designed for making pressurized service taps on 10-inch water mains. Constructed from ductile iron with a fusion bonded black nylon coating, this saddle resists corrosion and delivers long service life in buried or exposed installations. It supports a maximum working pressure of 350 psi and is NSF certified for potable water contact. The 1-1/2 inch NPT tap outlet accepts standard threaded service connections. Licensed plumbers, waterworks contractors, and municipal water crews are the primary installers for this type of fitting.
This saddle is suited for residential and commercial water distribution systems where a branch tap is needed on an existing 10-inch main without taking the line fully out of service. The double strap design distributes clamping load evenly around the pipe barrel, making it appropriate for tapping applications that require a leak-free, pressure-rated connection on live or newly installed mains. The fitting is manufactured in the USA and conforms to AWWA C-800 standards.
Fits pipe outside diameters ranging from 10 inches to 11.1 inches. Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation saddle for 10-inch ductile iron, PVC, and similar water main pipe conforming to standard outside diameter tolerances in that range.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or certified waterworks technician in accordance with AWWA standards and applicable local codes. Depressurize or isolate the line section whenever possible before installing the saddle, and verify pipe outside diameter falls within the 10-inch to 11.1-inch clamping range before tightening straps. Use appropriate tapping machine tooling sized for the 1-1/2 inch NPT outlet. Inspect the nylon coating for damage prior to installation and handle the fitting to avoid scratching the sealing surface.
