The ROMAC 286-090532 is a double strap pipe saddle designed for tapping into 8-inch steel or cast iron water mains. The saddle body is constructed from nylon with stainless steel straps, providing corrosion resistance and mechanical strength in buried or exposed service conditions. The outlet is a 3/4-inch female iron pipe thread (FIPT) connection, rated to a maximum of 350 psi. This fitting is used by licensed plumbers and waterworks contractors to create a new branch connection on an existing main without replacing the pipe. It meets AWWA C-800 standards for underground service line fittings.
This saddle is intended for use on 8-inch steel or cast iron pipe in municipal water distribution, commercial site work, and industrial piping systems. The double strap design distributes clamping load evenly around the pipe, making it well suited for pressurized service applications. The FIPT outlet accepts a standard corporation stop or ball valve for service line installation. Licensed plumbing and waterworks contractors are the primary installers of this type of fitting in both new construction and repair tapping applications.
Designed for use on 8-inch steel or cast iron pipe. Outlet connection is 3/4-inch FIPT, suitable for standard corporation stops and service line valves used in AWWA C-800 compliant waterworks installations.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or waterworks contractor in accordance with local codes and AWWA standards. Depressurize or isolate the line section when possible before drilling and tapping. Torque the stainless steel straps evenly to seat the nylon body flush against the pipe surface. Inspect the FIPT outlet threads before making up the valve or corporation stop connection to avoid cross-threading.
