The ROMAC 286-048032 is a double strap pipe saddle designed for tapping into 4-inch steel or cast iron pipe. The saddle body is constructed from nylon with stainless steel straps, providing corrosion resistance and secure clamping force. The outlet is tapped at 3/4 inch FIPT, making it compatible with standard threaded service connections. Maximum working pressure is rated at 350 psi. This fitting is installed by licensed plumbers and water system contractors performing service taps on water mains and distribution piping.
This saddle is used in water distribution and service line applications where a branch connection must be added to an existing 4-inch steel or cast iron main. The FIPT outlet accepts a standard threaded corporation stop or valve, allowing a controlled tap without cutting out a pipe section. Typical applications include municipal water service, irrigation laterals, and industrial supply piping where a reliable, pressure-rated branch point is required.
Designed for installation on 4-inch steel or cast iron pipe. Outlet connection is 3/4 inch FIPT. Conforms to AWWA C-800 requirements for underground service line components.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or water utility technician following AWWA and local code requirements. Depressurize or isolate the pipe section when possible before drilling the tap hole. Ensure the saddle straps are tightened evenly to achieve a uniform seal around the pipe circumference. Verify thread engagement on the FIPT outlet with a suitable corporation stop or plug before returning the line to service pressure.
