The ROCKWOOL RXSS31525 is a stone wool insulation batt engineered for interior wall partitions, floor assemblies, and ceiling cavities in residential construction. Built from natural and recycled stone wool fibers, it delivers both superior acoustic dampening and non-combustible fire resistance in a single product. The material is dimensionally stable, making friction-fit installation into standard wood and steel stud framing straightforward without adhesives or mechanical fasteners. It is chemically inert and will not promote corrosion, rot, fungi, or mildew growth. Low moisture absorption and resistance to water make it suitable for areas prone to humidity. This batt is typically installed by framing contractors, insulation crews, or licensed general contractors during new construction or retrofit projects.
The RXSS31525 is intended for interior wall partitions in residential wood-stud and steel-stud construction where both acoustical control and fire resistance are primary design requirements. Common applications include party walls, bedroom walls, home theater rooms, and floor-ceiling assemblies where sound transmission must be minimized. Its high-temperature melting point of approximately 2150 degrees F (1177 degrees C) gives it a strong passive fire-resistance profile compared to fiber glass alternatives. The product is CFC-free and HCFC-free, and its material composition can contribute to LEED project points.
Designed for friction-fit installation in residential interior wall partitions, floor assemblies, and ceiling cavities using standard wood or steel stud framing systems.
Installation is typically performed by insulation contractors or framing crews following local building code requirements. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment including gloves, eye protection, and a dust mask when cutting or handling stone wool batts. Power down any electrical circuits in the work area before insulating around wiring. Cut batts with a utility knife and straightedge to achieve clean, snug fits around obstructions without compressing the material, as compression reduces acoustical performance.
