The Robertshaw DAR-12E-NC is a 2-wire round motorized control damper from the DAR Series, built for reliable airflow control in residential and commercial HVAC zone control systems. This damper measures 12 inches in diameter and operates in a normally closed configuration, meaning it stays closed when unpowered and opens on command. It is designed for use in any duct system where precise airflow regulation is required, including variable air volume systems, zoned HVAC applications, and fresh air ventilation setups.
The damper shell is constructed from rolled 26 gauge galvanized steel with stiffening ribs that maintain structural rigidity under continuous operation. A single 18 gauge offset blade is mounted on a 0.375 inches one-piece steel shaft, supported by nylon bearings that allow smooth, consistent rotation. This combination of materials keeps the damper lightweight while providing the strength needed for long-term use in pressurized duct systems.
The DAR-12E-NC is rated for pressure systems up to 1.2 inches W.C., making it suitable for a wide range of residential and light commercial ductwork. Power comes from a single stall-type motor that delivers 55 to 75 inch-ounces of torque. Motor mounts are welded directly to the damper shell for added durability. A Lost Motion braking system is built in to prevent backlash and reduce shock to the motor gears, bearings, and blade shaft when the spring return drives the damper open. An external locking mechanism allows for minimum blade adjustment in the field. HVAC technicians and mechanical contractors rely on the DAR Series for straightforward installation and dependable zone control performance.
The Robertshaw DAR-12E-NC delivers consistent airflow control for HVAC zone systems with a durable galvanized steel build, stall-type motor, and built-in Lost Motion braking that extends component life. Its 2-wire design simplifies installation in both new construction and retrofit duct applications.
