The ROBERTSHAW 710-401 is a low-profile combination gas valve rated at 70,000 BTU/h and designed for space-constrained heating applications. Operating on 24 volts, it integrates a manual gas cock, automatic pilot safety valve, pilot outlet, pilot gas filter, and pilot adjusting key into a single compact assembly. The low-profile form factor makes it well-suited for installations where clearance is limited. It accepts both natural gas and propane fuel types, giving service technicians flexibility across different fuel configurations. Licensed HVAC technicians and gas appliance service professionals are the primary installers of this control.
The 710-401 is engineered for wall furnaces and similar low-capacity gas heating equipment, particularly in recreational vehicles and other applications where cabinet depth and mounting space are at a premium. The valve accepts a 1/2 inch inlet and a 1/2 inch outlet. All models in the 710 series feature 3-position outlets, which supports varied plumbing orientations in tight installations. The control can be mounted in any position except upside down, allowing additional flexibility during rough-in.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement combo gas valve for wall furnaces and low-capacity gas heating appliances, including applications in recreational vehicles where a 1/2 inch, 24-volt combination valve is specified.
Installation must be performed by a licensed gas appliance technician or qualified HVAC professional in accordance with applicable local codes and IFGC requirements. Shut off the gas supply at the main service valve and allow any residual gas to clear before disconnecting the existing valve. Do not mount the valve in the inverted position. Verify fuel type configuration before placing the system back in service, and perform a leak check at all connections using an approved detection solution.
