The ROBERTS MANUFACTURING R400-3/4-5P is a brass float valve assembly designed to automatically control water levels in tanks, troughs, cooling towers, and other reservoir-style systems. The assembly includes a poly float that rises and falls with the water surface, opening and closing the valve to maintain a consistent fill level without manual intervention. The 3/4-inch MIPT inlet connection makes it straightforward to integrate into standard pipe installations. This type of float valve is commonly installed by plumbers, irrigation technicians, and HVAC service professionals working on evaporative coolers, chemical feed tanks, and similar equipment.
The R400-3/4-5P suits a wide range of residential and light commercial water-control applications where a reliable, self-regulating fill mechanism is required. Typical installations include livestock waterers, storage tanks, cooling tower makeup water lines, and evaporative cooler sumps. The brass valve body handles the wear and corrosion demands common in these environments, while the poly float resists waterlogging over time. Installation requires a threaded female port sized for 3/4-inch male iron pipe thread.
Designed as an OEM-style float valve replacement for residential and light commercial water-level control applications using 3/4-inch MIPT threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a qualified plumber or mechanical technician familiar with threaded pipe fittings. Shut off the water supply and drain the tank or reservoir before removing the existing valve. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before installation to ensure a leak-free connection. Verify that the float arm is adjusted to the correct fill level after installation and that the valve seats and shuts off completely at the desired water height.
