The ROBERTS MANUFACTURING R400-1/2-5P is a brass float valve assembly with a poly float, designed to maintain a set water level in tanks, reservoirs, and similar open-water systems. The assembly connects via a 1/2 inch male iron pipe thread (MIPT) inlet, making it compatible with standard pipe fittings found in most plumbing and water management installations. The brass valve body provides corrosion resistance in wet environments, while the poly float delivers reliable buoyancy to actuate the valve and shut off flow when the target water level is reached. This type of float valve assembly is installed by licensed plumbers and qualified service technicians across residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
Float valve assemblies like the R400-1/2-5P are commonly installed in livestock water tanks, cooling tower makeup water systems, evaporative cooler reservoirs, swimming pool and spa equipment, irrigation holding tanks, and similar open-tank fill applications. The 1/2 inch MIPT connection threads directly into a tank fitting or supply line adapter. This assembly suits applications where automatic water level control is required without electronic controls or external power.
Designed as an OEM-style float valve assembly for open-tank water level control applications using 1/2 inch MIPT supply connections, including livestock tanks, evaporative coolers, irrigation reservoirs, and similar systems.
Shut off the supply water line before removing any existing float valve or fitting. Thread the 1/2 inch MIPT inlet into a female-threaded tank fitting or adapter, using thread sealant tape or compound appropriate for potable or non-potable water service as required by local plumbing code. Adjust the float arm angle or position to achieve the desired fill level before restoring water supply. Verify that the valve seats fully and does not leak at the inlet connection after pressurizing the line.
