The ROBERT LARSON 605-1250 is a dual-function mortise and marking gauge built from high-quality beechwood with brass wear strips on the rubbing face. One side features a sliding adjustment mechanism for marking mortises, while the opposite side carries a single pin for use as a traditional marking gauge. A thumbscrew locking mechanism secures the setting once the desired position is established. The overall length is approximately 7.75 inches. This tool is used by carpenters, joiners, and woodworking tradespeople who require accurate, repeatable layout lines during door, cabinet, and furniture work.
The 605-1250 is suited for both shop and on-site woodworking tasks. The dual-function design eliminates the need to carry two separate gauges, making it practical for finish carpenters and millwork installers who lay out mortise-and-tenon joinery or scribe cut lines on a regular basis. The beechwood stock offers stability and resistance to warping under typical workshop conditions.
Designed as a general-purpose hand tool for woodworking layout tasks requiring mortise marking or single-line scribing on wood surfaces.
No power tools or mechanical fasteners are required for setup. Set the desired fence position and tighten the thumbscrew before scribing to prevent drift. Keep the brass wear strips clean and free of debris to maintain consistent fence contact against the workpiece edge.
