The ROBBJACK TR-404-05 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in a wide range of metalworking and machining applications. With a 5/32-inch (0.1563-inch) mill diameter and a 9/16-inch length of cut, this tool delivers accurate material removal in tight-tolerance environments. The 4-flute, right-hand spiral configuration promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The 3/16-inch straight cylindrical shank and 2-inch overall length make it well-suited for use in standard collet and end mill holders on vertical mills and CNC machining centers. It is uncoated and built to the TR-404 Series specification using ROBBJACK Tuffy-grade carbide.
This end mill is used in job shops, tool rooms, and production environments where small-diameter precision milling is required. The centercutting geometry allows for plunge entry as well as peripheral and slot milling. The 30-degree helix angle provides a balance of cutting efficiency and edge strength suitable for ferrous and non-ferrous materials. Machinists and CNC operators working with aluminum, brass, mild steel, and similar materials will find this tool appropriate for finish milling, profiling, and light slotting operations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit tooling option for standard 3/16-inch shank collets and end mill holders used in vertical milling machines and CNC machining centers requiring small-diameter square end mills.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist following the machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool holding and runout tolerances. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing or setting tooling. Confirm collet condition and cleanliness before seating the shank to maintain concentricity within acceptable runout limits. Refer to the tooling manufacturer feed and speed recommendations for the specific material being machined.
