The ROBBJACK T12-403-16 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling operations in metalworking and machining applications. It features a 0.5-inch cutting diameter, a 5/8-inch length of cut, and a 3-inch overall length, placing it in the stub length category for rigidity in tight setups. The 4-flute geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. This end mill is centercutting, allowing direct plunge entry into workpieces. It carries a right-hand cut and right-hand flute direction. The uncoated solid carbide construction is suited for general-purpose milling across a range of materials.
This end mill is intended for use in CNC machining centers and manual mills where close-tolerance slotting, profiling, and peripheral milling are required. The 0.5-inch shank diameter fits standard ER collet chucks, end mill holders, and milling chucks commonly used in production and job-shop environments. The stub length format provides added stiffness compared to standard or long-reach versions, making it a solid choice when depth of cut requirements allow a shorter reach. Machinists and CNC operators in tool rooms, production shops, and prototype departments are the typical installers.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use solid carbide square end mill for standard 1/2-inch shank toolholders, including ER collet chucks and end mill holders commonly used in CNC and manual milling machines.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators following standard toolholding procedures. The shank should be seated to the full recommended engagement depth in the toolholder and secured to the manufacturer torque specifications for the holder type in use. Verify runout with a dial indicator before committing to a production cut. Always power down and lock out the spindle before changing tooling.
