The ROBBJACK SS-2-016 is a square-end, solid carbide end mill designed for precision milling in tight geometries and small-feature work. It carries a 1/64 inch (0.0160 inch) mill diameter with a 0.024 inch length of cut, making it suited for micro-slotting, profiling, and detail passes where larger tooling cannot reach. The 1/8 inch shank diameter fits standard collet chucks on CNC machining centers and manual mills. With a 30-degree helix angle and right-hand spiral flute configuration, it promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action in a stub-length form factor. Machinists and toolroom operators working in precision metalworking and mold-and-die applications are the primary users of this tool.
The SS-2-016 is intended for finishing and light slotting passes on ferrous and non-ferrous materials where dimensional accuracy is critical. Its stub length reduces deflection at very small diameters, an important factor when holding tight tolerances. The centercutting geometry allows plunge entry directly into the workpiece. This tool belongs to the ROBBJACK SS-2 series, a line of small-diameter solid carbide end mills built for high-precision CNC and manual milling operations in job shops, aerospace shops, and mold-making environments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production end mill for use in 1/8 inch collet chucks on CNC machining centers, CNC routers, and manual vertical mills requiring micro-diameter tooling in the ROBBJACK SS-2 series.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the collet chuck is clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Verify collet size matches the 1/8 inch shank diameter and that runout is within acceptable limits for micro-diameter tooling, as even minor runout can cause breakage at this diameter. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and shop safety guidelines for toolholder torque and workholding before initiating a cut.
