The ROBBJACK S1-401-06 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. With a 3/16 inch (0.1875 inch) cutting diameter and a 3/8 inch length of cut, this stub-length tool delivers rigid, accurate cuts in tight workpiece geometries. The four-flute spiral design provides efficient chip evacuation and a smooth finish in a right-hand cut, right-hand flute configuration. A 30-degree helix angle balances cutting force and surface finish across a range of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This end mill is centercutting, allowing plunge entry without a pre-drilled pilot hole. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job shop environments are the primary installers and users of this tool.
The S1-401-06 is suited for slot milling, profiling, and peripheral contouring on CNC machining centers, manual mills, and benchtop machines where a small-diameter stub end mill is required. The straight-cylindrical shank at 3/16 inch diameter fits standard ER collets and end mill holders. Its uncoated solid carbide construction at material grade C2 is appropriate for general-purpose applications in steel, cast iron, aluminum, and plastics where a coated tool is not required. The stub length-type body minimizes deflection at small diameters, making it a reliable choice for accurate detail work.
Designed as an OEM-style tooling option within the ROBBJACK Series S1-401, compatible with standard ER collets and end mill holders accepting a 3/16 inch straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use should be performed by qualified machinists familiar with CNC or manual milling operations. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked before securing or removing any cutting tool. Confirm collet or tool holder runout is within acceptable tolerance before use, as excess runout at this diameter will accelerate tool wear and reduce dimensional accuracy. Observe all applicable shop safety procedures including guarding and appropriate chip management for the workpiece material being cut.
