The ROBBJACK GM-402-02 is a solid carbide square end mill designed for precision milling in metalworking and machining applications. This single-end tool features a 1/16 inch cutting diameter, a 5/16 inch length of cut, and a 1/8 inch shank diameter with an overall length of 2-1/2 inches. The 4-flute spiral geometry with a 30-degree helix angle promotes efficient chip evacuation and a smooth surface finish. A diamond finish coating enhances wear resistance, making this end mill well suited for high-speed finishing passes in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. It is centercutting, allowing plunge entry, and cuts in the right-hand direction. Machinists and CNC operators working with tight tolerances will find this tool reliable for detailed slot milling and profiling work.
The GM-402-02 belongs to the ROBBJACK GM-402 series, which targets close-tolerance finish milling in production and job-shop environments. Its extended reach design, with a 1-inch reach length, makes it useful in applications where the cutting zone is set back from the workpiece face or requires clearance past a shoulder or step. The regular length classification and 1/8 inch shank make it compatible with standard collet and end mill holders on both vertical machining centers and manual knee mills. It is suited for light-to-moderate material removal in aluminum, brass, steel, and similar machinable alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard tooling option for CNC machining centers and manual mills using 1/8 inch collets or end mill holders in the ROBBJACK GM-402 series.
This end mill is installed by a machinist or CNC operator using a 1/8 inch precision collet or end mill holder; ensure the holder and collet are clean and free of debris before seating the shank. Follow shop safety protocols and power down the spindle completely before changing tooling. Apply appropriate cutting fluid or coolant for the material being machined to extend tool life and maintain dimensional accuracy. Consult the machine manufacturer and applicable shop standards for correct spindle speed and feed rate parameters when using small-diameter carbide end mills.
