The ROBBJACK B-440-10-A is a solid carbide ball end mill from the Series B-440 Tuffy Grade line, designed for both roughing and finishing operations in demanding machining environments. It features a 0.3125-inch mill diameter, a 4-flute helical configuration, and a 40-degree high helix angle that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The AlTiN PVD coating provides thermal resistance and hardness, extending tool life in high-heat cutting conditions. This single-end, right-hand cut tool is used by machinists and tooling professionals working in CNC milling applications across job shops and production environments.
The B-440-10-A is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. Its standard length geometry and straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with conventional end mill holders and collet chucks used in vertical and horizontal machining centers. With a 0.8125-inch length of cut and a 2.5-inch overall length, it fits standard-reach tooling setups without requiring extended reach adapters. The 0.1563-inch nose radius delivers consistent ball-end profiling on contoured and 3D surfaces.
Designed for use with standard straight-bore end mill holders and collet chuck systems accepting a 0.3125-inch shank diameter. Suitable for CNC vertical and horizontal machining centers running steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before inserting or removing the tool from the holder. Seat the shank fully in the collet or holder to the recommended gauge line depth before torquing the retention mechanism. Verify runout with a dial indicator after tool change, as excessive runout on carbide end mills accelerates edge wear and can cause premature tool failure.
