The RISCO irex-w is an intelligent passive infrared (PIR) detector engineered for request-to-exit (REX) applications in access control systems. It detects occupant presence or motion near a controlled door and sends a signal to release the latch without requiring physical contact with hardware. The irex-w is finished in white to blend with standard commercial and institutional interiors. Security integrators and low-voltage access control technicians are the primary installers for this device.
The irex-w suits a wide range of request-to-exit scenarios including single-door access points in office buildings, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions. It is designed to meet demanding REX performance requirements where false triggers or missed detections carry real security consequences. The detector provides ample internal wiring space, making field termination straightforward during new installation or retrofit work.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation PIR sensor for request-to-exit access control systems requiring a passive infrared detector with a standard low-voltage interface.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed low-voltage or access control technician in accordance with local codes and NEC Class 2 low-voltage wiring requirements. Power down the access control panel before wiring the detector to avoid damage to the board or sensor. Mount the unit at the manufacturer-recommended height and angle to ensure reliable coverage of the exit zone. Do not install in locations with direct sunlight, HVAC discharge airflow, or rapid thermal changes that can cause false triggers.
