The RIDGID 31015 is a heavy duty straight pipe wrench built for plumbers, pipefitters, and mechanical contractors working on threaded pipe systems. The wrench handles pipe up to 2 inches in diameter and has an overall length of 12 inches, giving the user adequate leverage for tightening and loosening standard pipe connections. The hook jaw is floating and forged, allowing it to self-adjust and grip firmly as torque is applied. The handle is cast from ductile iron for long-term durability under repeated heavy use. A knurled nut adjustment allows fast jaw-opening changes without tools.
This wrench is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing work, including supply line installation, drain and waste systems, and general threaded pipe assembly or disassembly. The 12-inch overall length makes it practical in tight mechanical rooms and under-sink applications where a larger wrench would be difficult to swing. Plumbers working on iron, steel, and black pipe runs will find the 2-inch pipe capacity covers the majority of common residential pipe sizes.
Designed as a standard straight pipe wrench for use on threaded iron, steel, and black pipe connections up to 2 inches in diameter.
Installation and removal of threaded pipe fittings should be performed by a licensed plumber or qualified pipefitter in accordance with applicable plumbing codes such as the IPC or local equivalents. Always shut off water supply and relieve system pressure before breaking threaded joints. Position the wrench jaw so that pulling force is applied in the direction that closes the jaw against the pipe, which maximizes grip and reduces slippage. Inspect the jaw teeth regularly and replace the wrench if teeth are worn smooth, as a slipping wrench on pressurized pipe can cause injury.
