Product Description

The RHEEM 86-136 is a single-component, fire-rated sealant designed for fireblocking and draftstopping applications in residential and commercial construction. Colored red for easy inspection, this noncombustible filler caulk fills annular spaces around wires, pipes, ducts, vents, cable lines, and other penetrations through the building envelope. It sets to a hard, non-slumping surface and meets ASTM E-136, meaning the material withstands 1,400 degrees F without exhibiting signs of flaming after the first 30 seconds in the test apparatus. Plumbers, electricians, HVAC techs, and general contractors apply this sealant using a conventional caulking gun. Water cleanup keeps the installation process straightforward.

This sealant is suited for interior applications in one- and two-family residential construction as well as non-rated penetrations in multi-family and commercial buildings. It meets the Model Energy Code requirement to form a gasket or seal against air infiltration in both performance and prescriptive versions. In the event of a fire, it prevents the spread of fire, smoke, and toxic gases through penetration openings.
