The RHEEM 523007a is a purple-tinted PVC and CPVC primer used to prepare pipe and fitting surfaces before solvent cementing. Applied ahead of solvent cement, it softens and cleans the mating surfaces to ensure a proper chemical weld. NSF listed, this primer meets recognized standards for use in potable water systems. It is commonly used by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on residential and light commercial plumbing installations where PVC or CPVC pipe assemblies require solvent-welded joints.
This primer is suited for plumbing applications involving PVC and CPVC pipe systems, including supply lines, drain lines, and irrigation assemblies. The purple colorant provides a visible indicator that primer has been applied to both pipe and fitting surfaces, which aids inspection on jobs where code compliance documentation is required. It is packaged in an 8 oz container, appropriate for smaller repair or installation jobs.
Designed for use as a preparatory primer on PVC and CPVC pipe and fittings in residential and commercial plumbing applications prior to solvent cement joining.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Apply primer to both the pipe end and the interior of the fitting socket using the dauber supplied with the container, and allow the primer to flash briefly before applying solvent cement. Work in a well-ventilated area and avoid open flames, as primer contains flammable solvents. Keep container sealed when not in use.
