The RH PETERSON VO8E-16 is a 16-inch Valley Oak replacement log set designed for use with vent-free gas burners. This seven-piece set produces realistic flame patterns and replicates the appearance of natural wood without requiring a chimney or flue. Crafted from high-density refractory cement, the logs are hand-finished for a lifelike look. The VO8E-16 is intended for smaller fireplace openings and is compatible exclusively with the G8E series vent-free burner. This is a logs-only set — no burner is included. Installation is handled by a licensed gas technician or qualified HVAC professional.
The VO8E-16 Valley Oak log set is suited for smaller residential fireplaces, including those found in older homes, condos, and apartments where a traditional vented fireplace is not practical. The set pairs with the G8E series burner, which is available in 9,500 BTU/h output (approved for bedroom installations) and 20,000 BTU/h output. Minimum fireplace opening dimensions required for this log set with the G8E burner are 17 inches front width, 13 inches rear width, 9.5 inches deep, and 17 inches high. Complete log-and-burner packages are also available separately.
The VO8E-16 log set is certified for use with the RH PETERSON G8E series vent-free burner only. It is not a universal log set and must not be used with non-certified burners. G8E burners are available in manual valve or on/off remote configurations at 9,500 BTU/h and 20,000 BTU/h. Using this log set with any non-certified burner creates risk of fire, carbon monoxide poisoning, and property damage.
This log set must be installed by a licensed gas technician or qualified professional familiar with vent-free appliance requirements. Shut off the gas supply completely before performing any service or log placement. Verify that fireplace opening dimensions meet the minimums required for the G8E burner before installation. Vent-free gas appliances are subject to local building codes — confirm that vent-free installations are permitted in your jurisdiction before ordering.
