The RH PETERSON G31-18/20A is a three-tiered vented natural gas log burner designed for installation in wood-burning fireplaces equipped with a gas supply line. Rated at 40,000 BTU/h maximum output, this burner uses a manual valve with a standing pilot ignition system -- no remote control or wall switch operation is available or compatible. It accepts 18-inch and 20-inch certified log sets and is approved for mobile home use. The three-tier burner design produces tall, robust center flames while consuming fewer BTUs than comparable vented burner systems. Installation requires a 1/2-inch gas connection with inlet pressure between 5.0 and 10.5 inches water column.
The G31-18/20A is intended for single-sided, indoor vented fireplaces burning natural gas. It is not a universal burner and must be paired only with certified compatible log sets -- using a non-compatible log set creates risk of fire, carbon monoxide poisoning, and property damage. Minimum fireplace dimensions for this burner are 25 inches front width, 20 inches rear width, 15 inches depth measured from inside the lip, and 17 inches height. Designed primary log sets include Mountain Crest Oak (MCO18), Mountain Crest Split Oak (MCS18), Charred Angel Oak (CHNA18), and Charred Angel Split Oak (CHNS18). Additional compatible log sets include Charred Oak (CHD18/20), Charred American Oak (CHAO18/20), Charred Royal English Oak (CHB18/20), and Charred Split (CHS18/20). Log set is sold separately.
The G31-18/20A is certified for use only with specific 18-inch and 20-inch log sets. Compatible log sets include Mountain Crest Oak (MCO18), Mountain Crest Split Oak (MCS18), Charred Angel Oak (CHNA18), Charred Angel Split Oak (CHNS18), Charred Oak (CHD18/20), Charred American Oak (CHAO18/20), Charred Royal English Oak (CHB18/20), and Charred Split (CHS18/20). This burner is not compatible with log sets outside this certified list.
Installation should be performed by a licensed gas technician or qualified HVAC professional in accordance with local codes and the appliance manufacturer instructions. Shut off the gas supply at the source before making any connections, and verify inlet pressure is within the 5.0 to 10.5 inches water column range after hookup. The fireplace damper must be secured open using the included damper clamp when the burner is in service. This burner cannot be converted to remote or wall-switch control and should not be modified beyond the scope of the manufacturer instructions.
