The RH PETERSON G31-18/20-2VTP is a three-tiered vented gas log burner designed for liquid propane (LP) operation in single-sided, indoor wood-burning fireplaces that have been retrofitted with a gas line. Rated at 40,000 BTU/h maximum output, the burner uses an electronic intermittent pilot valve with a variable flame remote receiver and transmitter included in the kit. The tiered burner geometry produces tall, robust flames above and between the log set while consuming fewer BTUs than comparable vented systems. This burner is certified for mobile home installation and is intended for use with specific compatible 18-inch gas log sets only.
The G31-18/20-2VTP is sized for fireplaces meeting minimum interior dimensions of 25 inches front width, 20 inches rear width, 15 inches depth measured from inside the lip, and 17 inches height. It is designed for single-sided, indoor vented installations in a traditional log set configuration using a standard grate integrated into the burner pan. The burner is sold as a complete system and is also available in a natural gas version. Log sets are sold separately and must be selected from the certified compatible list. The burner is not for use with non-listed log sets due to fire, carbon monoxide, and property damage hazards.
The G31-18/20-2VTP is certified for use only with specific 18-inch log sets. Designed log sets include Mountain Crest Oak (MCO18), Mountain Crest Split Oak (MCS18), Charred Angel Oak (CHNA18), and Charred Angel Split Oak (CHNS18). Additional compatible log sets include Charred Oak (CHD18/20), Charred American Oak (CHAO18/20), Charred Royal English Oak (CHB18/20), and Charred Split (CHS18/20). Using this burner with any non-listed log set creates a risk of fire, carbon monoxide poisoning, and property damage.
Installation should be performed by a licensed gas technician or qualified fireplace professional in accordance with applicable local codes and the manufacturer instructions. Shut off and verify the gas supply is fully isolated before connecting or disconnecting any gas fittings. The fireplace damper must be secured in the open position using the included damper clamp any time the burner is in operation. Do not operate the burner with a log set that is not on the certified compatibility list, and do not use this burner in an unvented or vent-free application.
