The RH PETERSON G31-18/20-2VT is a three-tiered vented natural gas burner designed for installation in a wood-burning fireplace equipped with a gas line. It delivers up to 40,000 BTU/h while producing tall, layered flames — top flames reaching approximately 3 to 5 inches above and between the logs, with middle flames at or below the top of the front log and ember flames approximately 0.25 to 1 inch above the embers. The burner uses an electronic valve with intermittent pilot ignition and includes a variable flame remote for convenient flame-height adjustment without manual valve access. Installation is performed by a licensed gas technician.
This burner is rated for indoor, single-sided vented fireplaces burning natural gas. It is also available in a liquid propane configuration. The G31-18/20-2VT is certified for mobile home use. Minimum fireplace dimensions required for installation are 25 inches front width, 20 inches rear width, 15 inches depth measured from inside the lip, and 17 inches height. The burner is sized for use with 18-inch gas log sets only. Designed log sets include Mountain Crest Oak (MCO18), Mountain Crest Split Oak (MCS18), Charred Angel Oak (CHNA18), and Charred Angel Split Oak (CHNS18). Additional compatible log sets include Charred Oak (CHD18/20), Charred American Oak (CHAO18/20), Charred Royal English Oak (CHB18/20), and Charred Split (CHS18/20).
This burner is certified for use with specific log sets only and is NOT universal. Compatible 18-inch log sets include Mountain Crest Oak (MCO18), Mountain Crest Split Oak (MCS18), Charred Angel Oak (CHNA18), Charred Angel Split Oak (CHNS18), Charred Oak (CHD18/20), Charred American Oak (CHAO18/20), Charred Royal English Oak (CHB18/20), and Charred Split (CHS18/20). Using this burner with a non-compatible log set creates risk of fire, carbon monoxide poisoning, and property damage. Log set is sold separately.
Installation must be performed by a licensed gas technician in accordance with the applicable local gas code and NFPA 54. Shut off the gas supply at the main valve and verify the line is depressurized before making any connections. The 0.5-inch gas connection must be properly sized and leak-tested after assembly. Confirm the fireplace damper is secured open using the included damper clamp before placing the burner into service.
