The RH PETERSON G31-18/20-02P is a three-tiered vented gas log burner designed for liquid propane (LP) operation in wood-burning fireplaces equipped with a gas line. Rated at 40,000 BTU/h maximum output, it uses an electronic valve with intermittent pilot ignition and includes an on/off remote control system. The three-tier burner geometry produces tall, robust center flames with progressively lower middle and ember flames, delivering a realistic log-fire appearance while consuming fewer BTUs than comparable vented burner systems. This burner is intended for single-sided, indoor fireplaces only and carries Mobile Home Approved certification. A licensed gas technician should perform installation in accordance with applicable local codes.
The G31-18/20-02P is sized for use with 18-inch gas log sets in single-sided indoor fireplaces. Minimum fireplace opening requirements are 25 inches front width, 20 inches rear width, 15 inches depth (measured from inside the lip), and 17 inches height. The burner was designed specifically to work with Mountain Crest Oak (MCO18), Mountain Crest Split Oak (MCS18), Charred Angel Oak (CHNA18), and Charred Angel Split Oak (CHNS18). Additional compatible log sets include Charred Oak (CHD18/20), Charred American Oak (CHAO18/20), Charred Royal English Oak (CHB18/20), and Charred Split (CHS18/20). Log sets are sold separately. This burner is also available in a natural gas version.
Designed for use exclusively with specific 18-inch vented gas log sets. Certified compatible log sets include Mountain Crest Oak (MCO18), Mountain Crest Split Oak (MCS18), Charred Angel Oak (CHNA18), Charred Angel Split Oak (CHNS18), Charred Oak (CHD18/20), Charred American Oak (CHAO18/20), Charred Royal English Oak (CHB18/20), and Charred Split (CHS18/20). This burner is NOT universal — use only with the log sets listed above. Using an incompatible log set creates risk of fire, carbon monoxide poisoning, and property damage.
Installation must be performed by a qualified gas technician in compliance with local gas codes and applicable NFPA standards. Shut off the gas supply at the main valve and confirm the line is depressurized before making any connections. The fireplace must meet the minimum dimensional requirements stated above and must be equipped with an existing gas line; do not attempt to adapt this burner to a non-vented or direct-vent appliance. Verify inlet gas pressure falls within the specified operating range before commissioning the burner.
